Alcohol
In the United Kingdom, it is against the law for young people under the age of 18 to purchase and/or sell alcohol. Young people over the age of 16 can drink an alcoholic drink in a licensed pub or restaurant but only if they are accompanied by an adult, and if it is with a meal. This isn’t always the case though and depends on the restaurant.
However, many young people do drink alcohol. There are many reasons why young people may drink. Laws are there because of the effects that alcohol has on your health. It is important to be aware of the risks. Support is available if using alcohol is having a negative impact on your health or wellbeing.
