Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is all about how we feel about ourselves and value ourselves. When we have high self-esteem we feel good about ourselves and that we can achieve what we want to do.

However, always feeling confident in ourselves is hard and there are many things that can affect our confidence. For example you might be going through a challenging situation, made a mistake or are struggling to talk nicely about yourself. All of these situations can knock our confidence and self-esteem.

There are lots of things that we do to support our confidence and self-esteem. You always have a right to feel good about yourself. 

Positive Affirmations

Part of building your self-esteem is making sure the way you speak about yourself is positive. As you would say something nice to a friend to build their confidence, you can do the same yourself. Below are some positive affirmations you could say to yourself. Try saying them out loud, or think of these in your head, or write them down to yourself. 

  1. I am perfect the way I am 
  2. I am valuable because I am me 
  3. I do not need to be perfect 
  4. I am proud of myself 
  5. I am not defined by my mistakes 
  6. I believe in myself 
  7. I deserve to be around friends that like me for me 
  8. Life isn’t always easy but challenges make me stronger 
  9. I am enough 
  10. I will not compare myself to others 

Try and write your own positive phrases that give you a confidence boost!
